Conjugates and rationalizing expressions
Practise rationalising radical denominators while understanding why each transformation preserves an expression. This precalculus foundation set moves from single square-root denominators to binomial conjugates, signs, variable restrictions and a geometric application.
You will connect conjugate multiplication with the difference of squares, distinguish a binomial square from a conjugate product, and identify when multiplying by an apparent form of one is invalid. Questions also ask you to check a result by multiplying back and to interpret a rationalised answer in context.
Before you start
Be comfortable with square roots, fraction arithmetic and the distributive property. Work out each answer on paper before inspecting the choices. Single-select and select-all questions test both calculation and explanation.
How to use the feedback
Study the worked reasoning after an attempt, especially any lost sign, missing cross term or excluded value. These selected-response exercises support algebra practice; a later written explanation is useful for checking independent understanding.
